The drive
The 997-generation 911 Carrera is widely regarded as the last of the truly analogue-feeling 911s — a car with enough technology to be thoroughly usable, and enough character to remind you why you’re driving in the first place. This one is Guards Red, which is not a subtle choice, and that’s the point.
It seats two. It doesn’t have a roof rack. It will not carry your luggage and four friends. What it will do is make the Kaikōura coast feel like it was built specifically for this moment, or turn the Crown Range into something you’ll talk about for years.
The South Island has some of the finest driving roads in the world. Most people experience them through an SUV window. This is the alternative.

Concierge handover & collection ($150): We deliver your vehicle personally, walk you through everything, and collect it at the end of your trip. Christchurch city and airport.
Return with the same fuel level as at handover unless your rental agreement says otherwise.

Questions people ask
Why do you need fourteen days notice?
The 911 is stored in a showroom off-site rather than at our main fleet location. The fourteen-day rolling lead time lets us get it out, prepped, and brought to Christchurch in time for your collection. It is the one part of the booking that is not instant — everything else is.
Is it manual or automatic?
Automatic. This is a 2008 911, so the transmission is the early Tiptronic — a conventional automatic with the option to shift manually via the gear lever. It is not the modern PDK paddle-shift experience and it does not pretend to be. If you are after a stick-shift 911 or the latest dual-clutch, this is not the car.
Is it insured the same way as the rest of the fleet?
Yes. Standard comprehensive cover with a $3,000 excess, reducible to $2,000 (Peace of Mind) or $1,000 (Ultimate) — options appear at step 3 of the booking. Road rules and usage restrictions are the same as every other vehicle in the fleet.
Can we take the car to the North Island?
We build hires around South Island touring from Christchurch. North Island travel is not our usual arrangement — ask when you enquire and we will confirm what is possible.
What if we return late?
Tell us as soon as plans change. Extra time is subject to availability and your hire agreement; charges follow what you agree when you book.
