Driving: local
Settle in and take the town at its own pace. Ride the Skyline Gondola for the view over Lake Wakatipu, walk the lakefront, and eat well in the evening. An easy first day after travel.

Tip: Park at your accommodation and walk the town centre; it is compact and busy with traffic.
Driving: approx. 45 minutes each way
Drive the Glenorchy road along the shore of Lake Wakatipu, one of the prettiest short drives in New Zealand. Stop at the lookouts, walk the Glenorchy lagoon boardwalk, and head up the Paradise road if conditions allow.

Stay: Queenstown.
Tip: The road is sealed to Glenorchy; beyond it turns to gravel. Check your rental agreement before the Paradise section.
Driving: approx. 20 to 40 minutes
A short drive to historic Arrowtown, all gold-rush cottages and autumn colour, then the Gibbston Valley cellar doors on the way. Time your day around your onward flight.
